FAQS - Therapy 101
-
What is the core of therapy?
Therapy addresses issues related to mental health. This involves improving overall psychological wellbeing, establishing treatment plan goals, receiving a suitable diagnosis, and providing you with emotional support/coping strategies related to your concerns.
-
How long will my therapy last?
It depends. Therapy can support with short term or long term concerns. Everyone’s length of treatment can differ and will depend on many factors e.g., your personal healing journey, your commitment to the process, level of engagement, established treatment plan goals, etc.
-
Do you prescribe medication?
We do not prescribe medication or provide those services. However, if we recognize a need for medication management we can discuss referral options with you and refer you to a provider.
-
Is everything discussed confidential?
All counseling sessions are private and confidential. However, there are certain limits to confidentiality, particularly when safety concerns arise. These may include, but are not limited to, situations involving suspected/or reported abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or dependent adult; risk of serious harm to yourself or others; or if required by court order or other legal obligations.
-
What if it isn't a good fit?
Sometimes the therapist-client relationship isn’t always the best fit! That is okay and it is a very normal part of the process. If you or your therapist decide that it is not a good fit at any point of the treatment process, we can support you in finding another clinician and provide you with referrals to another provider.

This is my first time and I am nervous, what should I expect in the first few appointments?
No worries! We send a welcome message to our first timers. We want to help ease your anxiety and walk you through the process.
The first few appointments, we will be supporting you with initial paperwork, confirming client details, completing the intake, then getting you or your child scheduled for their/your first therapy appointment.
